How will you get the power you need for 2017? As 2016 is coming to a close, on Christmas Day I was given what I needed to move forward in power for 2017. It came from God’s Word, specifically in 2 Corinthians 12:1-10.
Paul boasts in his weaknesses. I was reminded of a website called celebratingweakness.com by a wonderful lady named Lisa Moore who I met this last summer. I’m sure you will be blessed when you visit her sight.
Paul talks about visions and revelations from the Lord. He tells those listening that he knew a man 14 years ago that was caught up in the 3rd heaven, whether it was in the body or out of the body- Paul does not know, but God knows. He was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things- things man are not permitted to tell. He was talking about himself. He had the gift of visions and revelations and he realized how that gift could make him conceited. Although he had this great gift, or possibly BECAUSE he had this great gift there was given to him a thorn in the flesh. A messenger of satan tormented him. He says he pleaded 3 times with the Lord to take it from him.
Guess what? The “thorn in the flesh”, the pain, the issue going on, the problem was NOT removed. Instead Paul was taught something much greater. He was taught that God’s grace is sufficient for him. That God’s power is made perfect in weakness.
This is the reason Paul, you, and I for Christ’s sake can delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardship, in persecutions and difficulties. For when we are weak, we are strong.
As a follower of Jesus Christ for many years, I’ve seen many answered prayers in regards to healing. I’ve seen situations worked out in ways no-one could explain or expect. I’ve seen relationships restored and job situations worked out. All these things we ask for because those are good things. We want good thing to happen for ourselves and for our loved ones. We ask for good things. Not all good is on this earth. As Paul states, a messenger of satan was sent to torment him. I am a fool if I don’t believe messengers of satan are sent to torment God’s people. I am not a fool. You and I have been given the same words as Paul.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Hold onto that for 2017. I am looking forward to a stellar 2017 and I will remind myself often of the words of my Lord and Savior: “MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU. FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.
Pour on the power Lord. It is a comfort to know that this power is made perfect in my weakness. Nothing is greater than His power. NOTHING. May you allow 2017=Power in your life too!
